Macedonia, er...The Slavic Non-Greek Republic?

What's in a name?

I am neither Greek nor Macedonian nor FYROMian (nor Ferengi). I just read a BBC article about NATO wanting the Greeks and the FYReeks to settle on a name for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. If plain old Macedonia won't work, here are some alternatives:

1. New Yugoslavia;

2. South Yugoslavia which can be translated as;

3. Yugo-yugoslavia (land of the southern south Slavs);

4. North Macedonia; or

5. East Luxembourg. Heck if there is already a country called Luxembourg and a Belgian province of Luxembourg, why not a third?

Honestly, I'd settle for Macedonia. When I hear my friends speaking Macedonian, it's all FYReek to me!
