Heinz pulls ad in the UK: two men kissing
Happy Pride Week in Toronto to all the Pride-betyrians! Just watch out for the British tourist men eating sandwiches with Heinz mayonnaise. They might kiss each other. I wonder if the Heinz UK ad was one that Heinz knew would get controversy just so people would want to see it on YouTube. Sometimes, negative advertising is better than no advertising.
Battle of the Star Trek captains for President of the US of A
There is some eery resemblances in looks and personalities between some of the Star Trek captains and the US presidential candidates. Here is John McCain as Next Generation's Capt. Jean-Luc Picard.
Next, we have Barack Obama as Deep Space Nine's Capt. Benjamin Sisko.
Next, we have Barack Obama as Deep Space Nine's Capt. Benjamin Sisko.
Finally, Hilary Clinton plays Capt. Kathryn Janeway on Voyager. She was destroyed by Sisko Obama because the evil Borg collective tried to transmit Sisko Obama's thoughts about not really wanting to change the Intergalactic Free Trade Agreement among the Federation, Ferengi, and Vulcans even though Sisko Obama told his crew that he would. Captain Janeway Clinton (who wore pantsuits [sexist comment]) had her supporters start spreaking rumours that Sisko Obama went to a Klingon training-camp school that supported extremism when he was young.
All three captains wanted to lead the Federation. Capt. Janeway Clinton had a wonderful record but her starship and her mind were really in outer space. Really, her only chance of leading the Federation would have been if Sisko Obama were obliterated by the Borg collective. That didn't happen. Sisko Obama decided help bring Janeway Clinton's Voyager starship home by giving her coordinates to a wormhole that would bring her ship back sooner. Unfortunately, the wormhole sent her further into space where she and her crew were destroyed by the Romulans.
Now it's a race to see who will lead the Federation: Picard McCain or Sisko Obama. Vote at my Star Trek captain for US president poll.

Eric Margolis on why the US invaded Iraq and Afghanistan
Eric Margolis wrote a great column in the Toronto Sun about why the United States invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. He also mentioned that four major western oil companies, Exxon Mobil, Shell, BP, and Total will be signing a US brokered no-bid contracts to begin exploiting Iraq's oil fields. These same companies were expelled from Iraq when Saddam Hussein nationalized the Iraqi oil industry. He also wrote that the US needs Afghanistan through which to build a pipeline from the oil rich states of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakstan to Pakistan. This oil will help feed the SUVs in America.
I will add that if the US were not leading the oil development and pipelines, Russia and/or China could. If Russia were ever to make an oil development and pipeline agreement with Iran and Azerbaijan, the US could go to war with Iran by using the pretext of Iran exporting Islamic extremism in the Middle East.

What would Jesus do? Blog Poll: Your choice for US president
This is my non-scientific poll on bloggers' support for president of the United States of America.
I assume that Barack Obama will become the Democratic nominee. John McCain is le choix des Républicains. I include Jesus Christ because anytime there is a presidential debate, the candidates usually indicate that Jesus is their inspiration. I am leaving out minor candidates because it's my poll and I can do what I like. If you do not like it, then make up your own poll.
Vote for the next US president through my blog poll.
